Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced each other in the 45th match of IPL 2025. The match is happening at the Wankhede Stadium on April 27. In this match, South African player Corbin Bosch finally made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians.

Corbin Bosch, who is a fast bowler and a handy batsman, was included in Mumbai Indians’ playing XI because Mitchell Santner got injured. Bosch had recently joined the Mumbai squad as a replacement for another South Africa player, Lizaad Williams, who is out of the entire IPL season due to a knee injury. 

Interestingly, Corbin Bosch wasn’t picked by any team during the IPL 2025 auction, he went unsold. However, Mumbai Indians later signed him as a replacement. This isn’t Bosch’s first time being around an IPL team either, earlier, he was with Rajasthan Royals as a net bowler, though he never got a chance to play a proper match. Corbin Bosch hails from a cricketing family, with his father, Tertius Bosch, being a former South African cricketer. This legacy instilled a passion for the sport in Corbin from a young age. He represented South Africa in the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where his standout performance in the final earned him the Player of the Match award.

Bosch’s domestic journey began with the Titans, where he made his T20 debut in the 2014–15 Ram Slam T20 Challenge. He later made his first-class debut in the 2017–18 Sunfoil Series and his List A debut in the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. His consistent performances led to stints with various teams, including the Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League and the Paarl Royals in the SA20 league. Notably, Bosch played a pivotal role in MI Cape Town’s title victory in the SA20 league, taking 11 wickets in 7 innings at an economy rate of 8.68 .

Bosch’s international debut came in December 2024 during South Africa’s series against Pakistan. He made an immediate impact, becoming the first South African to score a fifty and take a four-wicket haul on Test debut .
